This artwork is made by cutting and gluing exotic, natural wood veneers together.
My all time favorite fans are my 7 and 5 years old daughters. They collect all my art prints for a dollar each, bless their hearts. I made two similar pieces, each with a different bird, a few years ago and gave them as presents to my sweet hearts. They still think it is the cutest picture. So, I redesigned and added a bee to it. By the way, this bird is not a Bee Eater.
You can view the pieces of wood I used for the bird here: [link][link][link]
I watched the youtube video on how this piece was made and was excited to see it here. I loved the fact that you made a computer program to preview your grain and color selection. Is there any chance you would want to make that program available for sale because I would be very interested. I can't believe how large this piece is. Much bigger than I thought at first. I can't remember from the video about how the pieces are cut. Are you using the window method with a knife or double bevel with a scrollsaw? What is your favorite adhesive for gluing down the substrate? At any rate you are a brilliant craftsman and your work just blows me away. Someday I hope I can do work that is up to this level.
